These are the most populars beaches:

• Piratininga beach, is  famous for its clean  water and the sea view of the Sugar Loaf and Corcovado.
• Camboinhas, a family  beach with  white sand and clearest ocean.
• Itacoatiara, the most frequented by the city's youth and families,There are large extension of sand, rocky shores and salt marsh vegetation.
• Sossego beach, a trail lead you to the beach one hidden by bushes and rocks area.
• In Itaipu beach, known for its sand dunes, calm waters and nearly a kilometer of sand.

 The most famous beach in Niteroi is Itacoatiara,which is located at oceanic region,the beaches outside of Guanabara Bay,at 12 miles from Niteroi downtown.

Itacoatiara is very unique beach because is one beach divided by a huge rock in  two parts,Itacoatiara and Prainha of Itacoatiara.

The biggest part of the beach is the most fun part,but is dangerous due the big waves.It is good for surfing and is the beach where you can find the most beautiful people in Niteroi.

The smallest part,Prainha de Itacoatiara,is often visited for families with young kids and babies. The   oldest generation love too because is calm and the  waves are  very small.

In Niteroi friends get together at the beach and stay together all day long.

The first thing locals do in Itacoatiara is to  find a spot at Pisca tend.He is the guy that offer the coldest beer at the beach.He is famous also because even though you dont have the money to drink beer,he allows you to drink and pay him next weekend.

OPS!In Brazil is not illegal to drink at the beach.

The best place to go for a lunch on the weekend is Seu Antonio restaurant,which is a casual restaurant where sell one of the best Portuguese sea food.

Be prepare to be on the line for at least 2 hours,but I am sure you can wait in the line having some beers and eating delicious famous appetizer bolinho de bacalhau (a type of bolinho mix with cod fish).
